Noritoshi Hirakawa is particularly interested in life on the farm as he himself comes from a Japanese farming family and his CV actually begins with the sentence: ‘During his earliest childhood two goats wandered around the house’. For the 2003 ‘Year of the Farm’ commission Noritoshi Hirakawa moved in with a farmer’s family in Drenthe, where three generations live and work together. Under the title ‘Dawn of Felicity’, he sought poetic moments in the daily cycle of the farming family in their contact with the surrounding nature.
