On this particular field in Almelo, benches and waste baskets that have been arranged in a mainly static fashion, are playfully juxtaposed. The Almelo-based De Colckhof (Colck Court), an institute for the mentally disabled, commissioned Lilly van der Stokker to design this work of art. With her artistic contribution, Van der Stokker, invites residents as well as casual passers by, to sit with each other.
Lilly van der Stokker is known for her monumental and, often, dreamy murals with which she transforms the character of a given space. In Almelo something similar has occurred. With a tongue-in-cheek reference to the decency and drabness of park furniture in general, she created an exterior space that encourages unexpected and spontaneous rendezvous.
