Polder Mastenbroek is a large-scale, late-Medieval polder that lies in Overijssel between Kampen, Zwole, Hasselt and Genemuiden. The polder is under pressure from urban and industrial developments and has therefore been included as one of the projects in the government’s Belvédère National Heritage scheme. The crucial issue here is: to what extent can cultural-historical values be safeguarded and incorporated in a new economic and social reality in the polder? (see also www.poldermastenbroek.nl).
On the initiative of SKOR, the artists Birthe Leemeijer en Sjaak Langenberg were approached to shed light on this issue from the viewpoint of visual art.
